Living the Dream in Barcelona!
November 11, 2019 | by Biagio Tedesco - Director of Concierge Services for Europe

When you think of living or retiring in Europe, you can picture yourself in one of the many quaint squares, sitting out in one of the traditional cafés sipping coffee or having a glass of wine and just feeling at peace with yourself, the world around you. If I had to choose a place, it would definitely be Barcelona!...

The city combines the great Mediterranean laid back feeling, I prefer to call it savoir vivre, with the efficiency of a Northern European Capital.

Nestled along the north-eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, Barcelona stands today for art, culture, food and innovation in architectural trends.

The city is the celebration of beauty and harmony in all its forms. From the church of La Sagrada Familia, over 3300 FT high, being built for the past 200 years (all works should be terminated by 2026!), to Las Ramblas, main avenue in the heart of the old town as it is known EL Barrio Gotico. From its Park Guell, exquisitely embellished by the master of Modernist Architecture, Antoni Gaudi, to the latest sculpute EL PEIX, The Fish, work of the Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, opening to the Olympic Village built when the city of Barcelona hosted the 1992 Olympic games.

Barcelona, capital of Catalunya, can offer so much to anyone planning to retire to a European city: nice weather, beautiful sandy beaches, hiking trails, great lifestyle. Its healthcare, both private and public, is of a high-quality standard and well acknowledged in Europe.
